Roden Shipyards Skin |
New Eden is a grand universe to explore and make your mark in and your ship is an extension of you, the player. Even CCP has come to realize this and now has this video titled "Birth of a Capsuleer" to entice the new player into how important their ship is.
Ship Skins are another layer of personalizing your experience and establishing that you are different from that other capsuleer. I, personally have 34 skin licenses on my main character, spanning Frigates to Industrials to Battleships and even some Tech II ships. Some of my favorites include:
- Roden Shipyards
- Intaki Syndicate
- Quafe
- Cold Iron
- Tash-Murkon
So how do you start collecting ship skins? Well, there are 4 ways in which to get ship skins. Two cost ISK and two takes time.

- Special Dates
Sometimes these events are simply logging in during some holiday or anniversary and getting a free skin. I've gotten a few this way and Christmas seems like a good time for having a chance at these.
- Special Events
There are events in New Eden that also allow for you to gather skins. Crimson Harvest was an examp[le of this type of special event. Pay attention to the news ticker in the launcher when they announce special events and see if there are skins that will drop.
- Getting them off the Market
I get a lot of my skins this way, however, be smart. Most skins IMO on the market are over-costed to the extreme. Look out for deals though because they do happen.
- Getting them off the Store
This isn't the most effective way to get them, though with the changes to the new PLEX system, dropping the old Aurum credit does appear to have made these a little more affordable if you watch out for sales and play the store smart.
